Otmane, a Finance Master’s graduate from HEM Casablanca in Morocco. At Customs Complete, my role involves maintaining accurate financial records, providing support to team members (customs team in france) with any finance or accounting needs, and assisting partners with their queries. My work ensures that all financial processes run smoothly.
2. What’s your background in customs clearance, supply chain, or compliance?
My career in customs and supply chain management started in an agribusiness exporting company, where I first engaged with logistics. This position not only introduced me to the logistics environment but also helped me become familiar with the necessary vocabulary, documentation, and operational protocols. This initial role was instrumental in expanding my expertise beyond my foundational finance background and into the more complex aspects of supply chain and compliance.
3. What does a typical working day look like for you?
A typical working day for me is centered around supporting our team members and partners to ensure they can work effectively. My goal each day is to complete all tasks promptly, without any delays or the need to carry them over to the next day. A day where everything wraps up smoothly and stress-free is a win in my book. This approach helps maintain efficiency and satisfaction across our operations.
4. What do you enjoy most about working in this industry?
What I enjoy most about working in this industry is the ability to create added value for everyone I interact with. The satisfaction that comes from completing tasks efficiently and effectively, particularly when it positively impacts our customers, is incredibly rewarding. Each successful interaction reinforces the significance of our work and the positive effect we have on our clients’ operations.
5. How does your role support the customs and logistics operations at Customs Complete in france?
My role is to closely monitor all tasks managed by our operations team, ensuring I’m always ready to assist them and prevent any interruptions in their workflow. In addition to this proactive support, I also handle various financial responsibilities, including banking and payments. This comprehensive approach allows our operations to run smoothly and ensures that all financial aspects are addressed promptly and efficiently.
6. What are some common financial challenges businesses face in international trade?
Some common financial challenges in international trade include managing funds and invoice collection from customers. The international trading environment is inherently uncertain, requiring vigilant monitoring of price changes to ensure effective margins and profitability. Businesses must adapt to these fluctuations to maintain financial stability and continue to thrive in a competitive market.
7. What’s one tip you’d give companies to ensure smooth financial processes in customs transactions?
Ensuring all transaction documents, such as invoices, bills of lading, and customs declarations, are accurately completed is crucial. Errors can lead to delays, fines, or additional duties, disrupting financial operations.

8. Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Outside of work, I cherish spending my Sundays relaxing on a sunny terrace with friends, where we enjoy good conversation and unwind from the week. Traveling is another passion of mine, much like everyone else, I suppose.
I love exploring new places, experiencing different cultures, and sampling local cuisines. These activities not only refresh me but also provide new perspectives and ideas that I bring back to my professional life.
